Heritage Overlay Projects
Port Melbourne House (2)
Originally a simple single storey early Edwardian workers cottage located in an Heritage Overlay area, the rear of the dwelling was in poor condition .The front two bedrooms, which opened off the traditional gun barrel passageway, were the only salvageable rooms in the original dwelling. The project brief was to create a double storey contemporary dwelling with three bedrooms and a living area opening onto the rear garden. The upper storey was to be designed to allow for separate self contained independent living upstairs. Within the constraints imposed to limit overlooking of the adjoining properties the design was to capture the long views to the north and south of the dwelling.
